To further safeguard campus data and protect the UMass Amherst community, third party applications must be reviewed and approved prior to being connected to the University’s Microsoft 365 environment. This ensures that any software in use complies with UMass Amherst’s requirements for security, legal compliance, and accessibility.
Requests to connect a non-reviewed Microsoft 365 App Integration must be submitted through the Microsoft App Integration Approval Form in ServiceNow.
When requesting to install a non-reviewed Microsoft 365 App Integration, campus community members will see a default Microsoft dialog prompting them to enter justification for the requested app, and to request approval. The Microsoft App Integration Approval Form in ServiceNow must still be submitted for the request to be approved.

In some cases, an app is approved but marked “assignment required.” This means the app is only available to specific groups on campus. If you try to connect to one of these apps, you will see that access is restricted. If you need to use the app for your work or studies, please email it@umass.edu and IT staff can add you to the appropriate group if approved.
