UMass Amherst students, faculty, and staff who graduate or leave the university lose access to most IT-provided services including UMass Amherst Canva accounts when their NetID expires. For more information about how to pack up your university accounts and data, see umass.edu/it/before-you-go
To avoid losing data, we advise students who are graduating or otherwise leaving the university to transfer important Canva projects from your UMass Amherst account to a personal one created using a non-UMass email address.
First, if you do not already have one, create a new Canva account at canva.com/signup using a non-UMass email address.
In your web browser, go to Canva.com.
Make sure you’re logged in as your UMass Amherst account.
Click the dropdown menu next to your name in the upper right to switch accounts.
On either the Recent Designs or Projects screens, hover your mouse over a design or folder and click the three-dot button in the upper right.
Click Share and enter the non-UMass email address you used to create your new personal account.
Click Share to confirm.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 for all designs you wish to copy to your new account.
Switch to your new Canva account.
Click the dropdown menu next to your name in the upper right to switch accounts.
If you don’t see your new account, click Add another account at the bottom of the menu.
On the Projects screen, hover your mouse over a design that you shared with this account from your UMass Amherst account, click the three-dot button in the upper right, and click Make a Copy.
This step creates a copy of your design in your new account. The versions which are shared from your UMass Amherst account will expire with that account.
Repeat step 6 for all designs you wish to copy to your new account.
For more information about transferring projects, see Canva support
Optionally, to declutter, switch back to your UMass Amherst account and un-share designs with your new account, so that the new account only has the imported copies.
