UMass Amherst has selected Asana as its official project management platform and acquired an enterprise license for the campus.
Campus community members who require Asana for university work must request an individual license costing $243 per year, before Monday, June 2.
Campus community members who created an Asana account using their UMass Amherst email address and wish to continue using free Asana for personal use must create a new account using a non-UMass email address.
See instructions below about how to transfer and import data between Asana accounts.
If you currently use a free Asana account which was created with a UMass Amherst email address, you can continue using free Asana for non-UMass by creating a new account with a non-UMass email address and transferring your data.
More information about transferring data between Asana accounts
First, export projects from your existing account as .csv files.
Log in at asana.com.
On the left side of the screen, under Projects, click the name of a project.
If you don’t see any, hover your mouse over the word Projects, and click the small triangle icon to the left.
Click the down arrow Actions button to the right of the project name at the top of the window. Click Sync/Export, and then CSV.
Save the downloaded file somewhere you can find it.
Repeat this process for all of your projects.
Log out of Asana to get ready to make your new account.
Create a new Asana account using a non-UMass email address at asana.com/create-account.
On the left side of the screen, under Projects, click Plus sign icon + to add a new project. If you aren't sure what template to use, select Blank to start from scratch. Follow the steps to make your new project.
Once your new project has been created, click the down arrow Actions button to the right of the project name at the top of the window. Click Import, and then CSV.
Select the file you exported earlier, or drag it onto the window.
Asana will show a preview of how it will import your data. If everything looks good, click Make changes.
