Retiree IT Account Renewal


Retired employees of University of Massachusetts Amherst are eligible for continued access to UMass Amherst IT services. Retirees must renew their IT accounts through SPIRE in order to continue receiving services such as email and a listing in the UMass directory.

  2. Log on to SPIRE.

  5. In the SPIRE navigation, go to Main Menu > IT Accounts > Retiree IT Services. The Extend Retiree Services page opens.

  8. On the Extend Retiree Services page, click Save and continue IT Services. This will enable you to access UMass Amherst IT services for two years after you leave the University. You will need to renew every two years to continue services. (A message, 'Saved', will appear in blue at the bottom of the page, confirming your extension.)

Note: If you have forgotten your NetID or password, click Password & NetID Help on the right side of the SPIRE login page.

If you do not renew your account, your services and directory listing will be removed. If you renew your account within six months of its deactivation, you will be able to access IT services again.
