Setting Up Delegated Access - For Parents/Guardians


After your student does their part, you will receive an email detailing information on the access request, along with the steps you need to take to gain access to the student’s records.

 

If you are a first time delegate:

  1. Refer to section “A” of the email you received.
  2. Click the “UMass Amherst Delegate Account Setup” link included in the email. This will redirect you to a page where you can create your delegate account.
  3. Enter the SAME email address you received the email to. Fill out the rest of the information, and click Create Account.
  4. Click Ok on the verification page. This will take you to the Terms and Conditions page.
  5. Read the terms and conditions. Check the I accept the terms and conditions checkbox. Enter the email address the email came to, as well as the security key you received in the original email. Click Submit and then click Ok.
  6. This will take you to the SPIRE delegates login page. Enter your email address and the password you set to log in to your delegate SPIRE account.
  7. Once you log in to your account, you will see two tiles on your home page: Profile and Delegated Access.
  8. Click on the Delegated Access tile to view all the information and links you have been granted access to by the student.

 

If you already have a delegate account and are adding another student:

  1. Refer to section “B” of the email you received. 
  2. Click the “UMass Amherst Delegate Account (Add Additional Student)” link. This will redirect you to the SPIRE delegate login page. Log in to your account using your email address and the same password you set up with the previous student.
  3. This will take you to the Terms and Conditions page.
  4. Read the terms and conditions. Check the I accept the terms and conditions checkbox. Enter your email address and the security key you received in the email.
  5. Click Submit and then click Ok.
  6. This will take you to the SPIRE delegates login page. Log in to your account.
  7. The Delegated Access tile now shows a list of the students you added.
  8. Click on any of the students to view the records they shared.
