Fix Issues Connecting to the eduroam Network on Windows 10 and Windows 11


eduroam is UMass Amherst's secure wireless network. For more information about wireless networks at UMass Amherst, as well as basic instructions for getting connected, see umass.edu/it/get-connected

Some campus community members report issues configuring the eduroam wireless network using the JoinNow setup application on Windows 10 and Windows 11 devices, including an error referring to issues installing the software. 

If you are unable to use the JoinNow application on Windows 10 or Windows 11, please try the following method. 
Note: Interface colors may vary across devices. 

Windows 10
  1.  Click the network icon in the lower right of your screen. 
  2. Click on the eduroam network in the list. 
  3. Enter your netID followed by "@umass.edu." Example: flastname@umass.edu
    Note: This may be different from your email address and your SPIRE ID. the @umass.edu is necessary.
  4. Enter your password, and click OK

Windows 11
  1. Click the network icon in the lower right of your screen. 
  2. Click the > right arrow icon next to the Wifi icon to list available networks. 
  3. Click on the eduroam network in the list. 
  4. Enter your netID followed by "@umass.edu." Example: flastname@umass.edu
    Note: This may be different from your email address and your SPIRE ID. the @umass.edu is necessary.
  5. Enter your password, and click OK
