Canvas is the official learning management system (LMS) at UMass Amherst for all on-campus and online courses.
Table of Contents
To Log into Canvas
- Navigate to umass.edu/it/canvas
- Select Sign in to Canvas
- Enter your NetID and password
- Click Sign in
- Authenticate with two-step login if prompted.
To Log Out of Canvas
- On the left-hand navigation menu, select Account.
- On the Account fly-out, at the top of the menu, select Logout
Find Your Courses
- When you first log into Canvas, you will be brought to your Dashboard. In addition to alerts and to-do list, you will see all Canvas courses you have access to, each represented by a Canvas Course Card.
- Click the name of the course card to access the course.

Once you download the app, you will be asked for your School Name in order to log in. Search for “amh” or “amherst” to locate UMass Amherst.

Signed in and can't see your courses?
You may be signed in to the wrong school. Sign out, then select the option for UMass Amherst. Make sure that you do not select University of Massachusetts Amherst Canvas Catalog, which will not show your courses.
