On-Campus Printing Options, Locations, and Instructions - UPrint

UMass Amherst IT maintains the on-campus pay-to-print service UPrint, which is supported by PaperCut. Printing is available via email and the web, with printers in a number of campus. More information about the UPrint service 

Printing Instructions

  1. Upload files to print and configure options at uprint.umass.edu, or email your files to uprint@umass.edu from your UMass Amherst email address.
    Detailed instructions below.
  2. Go to a UPrint enabled print release station and tap your UCard.
  3. Select your print job on the terminal.
  4. Pick up your printout from the printer. 

How to Email Files to Print

  1. Open your email program and create a new email from your UMass Amherst address.
  2. In the To field, enter uprint@umass.edu.
  3. Attach your file and click Send
  4. Wait for the confirmation email.
  5. Go to the printer.
  6. Tap (or swipe, where available) your UCard at the print release station.
  7. Select your print job to finish the printing process. 

Note: The following file types are allowed: 
Microsoft Excel: xlam, xls, xlsb, xlsm, xlsx, xltm, xltx
Microsoft PowerPoint: pot, potm, potx, ppam, pps, ppsm, ppsx, ppt, pptm, pptx 
Microsoft Word: doc, docm, docx, dot, dotm, dotx, rtf, txt 
PDF: pdf 
Picture files: bmp, dib, gif, jfif, jif, jpe, jpeg, jpg, png, tif, tiff XPS xps.


UPrint-Enabled Printer Locations

Note: Only grayscale printing is available in Integrative Learning Center (ILC), Furcolo, and Springfield Copy Center at this time.
Grayscale, color, and copy/scan capabilities are available at all other locations.

Grayscale print release stations cannot process color print jobs.

Upload Files & Configure Print Options

Note: The UPrint portal is only available for devices on the campus network.
To access the UPrint portal via the campus network from off campus, connect to the university Virtual Private Network (VPN) service.

  1. In your web browser, navigate to uprint.umass.edu.
  2. Click Sign in with Microsoft and enter your NetID and password

  3. Go to Web Print and click Submit a Job. Select the appropriate print queue for the type of printing you need:
      • eds-pcprint\UPrint-(B&W) (virtual) for single-sided grayscale printing
      • eds-pcprint\UPrint-(B&W-Duplex) (virtual) for double-sided grayscale printing
      • eds-pcprint\UPrint-(Color) (virtual) for single-sided color printing
      • eds-pcprint\UPrint-(Color-Duplex) (virtual) for double-sided color printing.
        Then, click on Print Options and Account Selection

  4. Enter the number of copies needed and click Upload Documents.
  5. Drag your files into the upload box or click on Upload from Computer.
    When all files are uploaded, click on Upload & Complete

    Your print jobs are now in the print queue waiting to be released at a print station.

  6. To submit additional print jobs, click on Submit a Job and repeat the steps from above.
  7. When done, log out of the UPrint service by clicking on your netid@umass.edu in the upper right corner and select log out.
  8. Go to the printer.
  9. Tap (or swipe, where available) your UCard at the print release station.
  10. Select your print job to finish the printing process.

Guest and Department Copy/Print Services

Guest and Department Copy/Print services are available on the computers at the Isenberg School of Management, Lederle Graduate Research Center (LGRC) Science and Engineering Library (SEL) and the W.E.B. Du Bois Library Learning Commons (lower level).

  1. Log in to a computer at one of the above locations.
  2. Select one of the guest printers when printing.
    • eds-pcprint\UPrint-Guest-(B&W) for single-sided grayscale printing
    • eds-pcprint\UPrint-Guest-(B&W-Duplex) for double-sided grayscale printing
    • eds-pcprint\UPrint-Guest-(Color) for single-sided color printing
    • eds-pcprint\UPrint-Guest-(Color-Duplex) for double-sided color printing
  3. Enter the ID Number in the pop-up.
    • Users should enter the number from their guest or department copy/print card.

  4. Go to the printer.
  5. Tap (or swipe, where available) your guest or department copy/print card at the print release station.
  6. Select your print job to finish the printing process.
