Record a Classroom Lecture with EchoVideo

The classroom capture system automatically captures your lectures according to the times you indicate in the Lecture Capture Request Form.

With classroom-based capture, you have the options below to include in the recording:

Preparation before Each Class

We will be more than happy to do a classroom walk-through with you before the semester starts. This is the recommended way to get familiar with the classroom equipment and technologies ahead of time in order to teach confidently, efficiently, as well as ensuring the quality of your classroom recording before the first day.

To schedule a classroom walkthrough, please contact UMass Amherst IT Classroom Technology Support (CTS) at either cts@it.umass.edu or call 413-545-5768 (8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m., Mon- Fri).

To record a classroom lecture using the classroom lecture capture system, please follow the instructions below to prepare for the recording

  1. Turn on the classroom audio/visual (A/V) cabinet.
  2. Connect your computer to the classroom projector. View the known issue and find the solution for Apple Users.
  3. Put on, and switch on, the microphone if it’s available in the classroom.
  4. Teach your class as you would normally. Lecture capture starts and stops recording automatically according to the times you indicated in the Lecture Capture Request Form.
  5. After the first classroom recording session, log into echo360.umass.edu to check your EchoVideo Dashboard and course page(s). You will be prompted to enter your UMass Amherst NetID and password to log in to EchoVideo. Or you can access your EchoVideo course page through your Canvas course page. Review the first classroom recording to ensure the capture settings are as you desired: display input, video quality/angle, audio volume and quality…
