With classroom-based capture, you have the option to record activities on your computer desktop; room/system audio, including your voice; documents via a document camera; media playing through the classroom audio/visual rack; video of you, the lecturer.

The classroom capture system automatically captures your lectures according to the times you indicate in the Lecture Capture Request Form.

Record your classroom lecture

To record a classroom lecture using the classroom lecture capture system:

1. Turn on the classroom audio/visual (A/V) cabinet.
   IMPORTANT: If you need training on how to use the A/V system for your classroom, contact UMass Amherst IT Classroom Technology Support (CTS) to schedule an appointment: Mon- Fri, 8:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m., 413-545- or cts@it.umass.edu.
2. Connect your computer to the classroom projector.
   APPLE LAPTOP USERS:
   Due to integrated digital copyright protections, EchoVideo cannot record the signal transmitted through an Apple laptop's HDMI port in EchoVideo-equipped classrooms outside of the Integrative Learning Center (ILC). (This issue does not affect Windows laptops or Apple computers used inside the ILC.)
   If you have an Apple laptop with an HDMI port (MacBook Air and older MacBook Pro models) or USB-C port (2015 MacBook and late 2016 MacBook Pro), and you are outside of the ILC, you must connect to the classroom's A/V system using a MiniDisplay port to VGA adapter, or USB-C to VGA adapter. These adapters can be purchased from the UMass Amherst Campus Store, Apple, and other retailers (e.g., Amazon).
3. Put on, and switch on, the wireless microphone.
4. Teach your class as you would normally. Lecture capture starts and stops recording automatically according to the times you indicated in the Lecture Capture Request Form.
5. After the first classroom recording session, Go to echo360.umass.edu to see your EchoVideo Dashboard and course page(s). You will be prompted to enter your UMass Amherst NetID and password to log in to EchoVideo. Or you can access your EchoVideo course page through the Moodle or Blackboard LTI. Verify that your video feed worked and the audio levels were appropriate. (Adjust, if necessary, for the next session.)
