About Academic Requirements Reports
You have two similar reports to choose from when reviewing advisees' progress toward their degrees: the Academic Requirements Report (ARR) and the Course Enrollment Planning Report (CEPR).
The ARR is the report most advisors prefer, because it is more truly a degree progress report. See ARR or CEPR: Which report should you use? below for more details about the differences. Instructions for viewing and working with the CEPR are the same as for using the ARR.
View the Academic Requirements Report (ARR)
Track your undergraduate advisee's progress with the interactive Academic Requirements Report. Find out how to generate an Academic Requirements & Course History PDF. Link to further information about Course History.
- Navigate to your advisee's Student Center.
- On the Student Center tab:
- From the other academic... drop-down list, select ARR NoShopping Cart.
- Click the double arrow icon (). The Advisee Requirements page for your advisee opens. This is the interactive Academic Requirements Report. In the initial view, only requirements that have not been satisfied are expanded. See Work with the Academic Requirements Report below for further details.
- From the Advisee Requirements page:
- Click View Report as PDF to view the Academic Requirements & Course History PDF. See Work with the Academic Requirements Report below for further details.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Cancel to return to your advisee's Student Center.
Work with the Academic Requirements Report (ARR)
Use the ARR to advise students, but make sure your advisees’ student records remain confidential at all times. This means that you:
- Cannot share these records with an advisee's parents without the advisee's consent.
- Cannot share these records with other UMass employees without a legitimate academic purpose.
If you choose to print an ARR or an Academic Requirements & Course History PDF, make sure that you keep it in a secure location and you shred all paper copies when you no longer need them.
ARR or CEPR: Which report should you use?
Choose your report according to your purpose:
1. Academic Requirements Report (ARR)
- Purpose: To provide focus on unsatisfied requirements to guide enrollment decisions.
- Details: The ARR never includes classes in the student's enrollment Shopping Cart. Use the ARR to evaluate degree progress based on course history and current enrollments.
- Menu item: ARR NoShopping Cart
2. Course Enrollment Planning Report (CEPR)
- Purpose: To explore the effect a class might have on degree progress before enrolling in it.
- Details: Use the CEPR to help plan enrollment by previewing how a given class might affect unsatisfied requirements. It includes any classes in the student's Shopping Cart, along with completed and in-progress classes. Otherwise, it is the same as the ARR.
