Running and Reviewing an iClicker Cloud Session


Once your iClicker Cloud course has been created and configured, you can run sessions and record student responses. We recommend running a practice session while connected to the iClicker base in your classroom to get comfortable with the platform.

Start an iClicker Cloud Session

Each time you begin an iClicker Cloud session, the system will aggregate responses from all polling questions until you end your session. If you are learning or exploring iClicker Cloud,  iClicker maintains instructions for how to run a practice session, including creating a practice course.

To Begin a Session

  1. Open the iClicker Cloud desktop application. Sign in with your iClicker instructor account if the option appears. The Courses window will open. 
  2. In the Courses window, hover your mouse over the course. The Start Class button will appear. 
  3. Select the Start Class button. The iClicker Cloud toolbar will appear. 

To Run a Polling Session from the iClicker Cloud Toolbar

  1. In the iClicker Cloud toolbar, select Poll
  2. Use the response type dropdown to select the question you are asking.
    Note: We strongly recommend only using the Multiple choice option if students are using iClicker2 remotes. Other question types may not be compatible with iClicker2 remotes. 
  3. Click the green play icon. The toolbar will will update to collecting responses. 
  4. When you have finished collecting responses, click the red stop icon
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 each time you want to ask a new question in class. 
  6. (Optional) To view or share the results of a poll, click Results. You can navigate to previously asked questions using the Back ( < ) and Next ( > ) buttons. 

End an iClicker Cloud Session

You must end your iClicker Cloud session after each class. This allows the software to sync the polling data. Failing to do so may result in a loss of polling data and responses. 

To End the Session

  1. In the iClicker Cloud toolbar, select End. The End Class Session? confirmation window will open. 
  2. Select End Class. The confirmation window will close, and the Course window will open. 

Review an iClicker Cloud Session

After you have completed an iClicker Cloud session, you can review the session, remove any accidental polling sessions, and mark answers correct if you are using Performance Points. After each session is completed, the data is synced to the online iClicker Cloud course. 

To View a Completed Session

  1. Open the iClicker Cloud desktop application. 
  2. In the Courses window, for the course you want to review, click the 3 horizontal dots
  3. From the options dropdown menu, select View Courses Online. The iClicker course will open to the Class History page in a browser window. 
  4. On the Class History, polling sessions you have run will appear by date, sorted newest to oldest. For the session you want to review, click the name of the class. The class poll page will open to the Questions tab. 
    1. If you are using Polls, sessions will be named Class [number] - Poll. 
    2. If you are using Attendance, sessions will be named Class [number] - Attendance. 
  5. For each question asked, you will see a screenshot of what was on the screen, and the question number. Click the name of a question to view the results. 
  6. To view the grades for the session, select the Grades tab. 

To Mark Correct Answers in a Session

  1. On the class poll page, click the name of the question you want to edit. The question information will open on the right. 
  2. Under Select Correct Answers, click on each correct answer choice. A green checkmark will appear under answers selected as correct. 
  3. Optional: Under Student Responses, use the Points field to adjust points for correct responses. 
  4. At the top of the Question, click X to close and return to the class poll page. 

To Delete a Question

  1. On the Class History page, click the name of the class poll you want to edit. 
  2. For the question you want to remove, click the 3 horizontal dots. The options dropdown menu will open. 
  3. Select Delete Question. The Delete Question confirmation window will open. 
  4. Select Delete Question

To Delete an Entire Class

  1. On the Class History page, on the top right of the page, select Delete. The Delete Activities window will open. 
  2. Select the activity you would like to delete. If you would like to delete multiple, select all you would like to delete. 
  3. Select Delete. The Delete Confirmation window will open. 
  4. Click Delete. The confirmation window will close, and the Delete Activities window will open. 
  5. Select another activity to delete, or click Cancel to return to the Class History page.

PLEASE NOTE

iClicker Courses automatically archive after the end date passes. Instructors can unarchive the courses on their own. For more information, see unarchiving the iClicker course.
