On-Campus Printing Options & Locations for Students - UPrint


This page includes information specific to students about on-campus printing.

UPrint on-campus printing is provided by UMass Amherst Information Technology (IT) and powered by PaperCut. 
Students can print 100 grayscale pages per semester at no cost. See pricing details below.

How to Print

  1. Upload files and configure options at uprint.umass.edu, email files to uprint@umass.edu, or print from Computer Classrooms and Learning Commons computers. Detailed instructions below. 
  2. Go to a UPrint-enabled release station and tap your UCard. See locations below. 
  3. On the terminal, select a print job to release, and pick it up from the printer. 
Upload Files & Configure Options

Note: The UPrint web portal is only available via the on-campus network. To access UPrint from off campus, connect to the university Virtual Private Network (VPN) service.

  1. Go to uprint.umass.edu and click Sign in with Microsoft. Enter your NetID and password

  2. In the vertical navigation bar on the left side of the screen, click Web Print.
  3. Click Submit a Job.
  4. Select the appropriate print queue for the type of printing you need:
    • Single-sided grayscale: eds-pcprint\UPrint-(B&W) (virtual)
    • Double-sided grayscale: eds-pcprint\UPrint-(B&W-Duplex) (virtual)
    • Single-sided color: eds-pcprint\UPrint-(Color) (virtual)
    • Double-sided color: eds-pcprint\UPrint-(Color-Duplex) (virtual)
  5. In the lower right, click Print Options and Account Selection

  6. Enter the number of copies needed and click Upload Documents in the lower right. 
  7. Drag your files into the upload box or click on Upload from Computer.
    When all files are uploaded, click on Upload & Complete in the lower right.

    Your print jobs are now in the print queue waiting for you at any UPrint-enabled print station.

  8. To submit additional print jobs, click Submit a Job and repeat the steps from above.
  9. When done, log out of the UPrint service. Click your netid@umass.edu in the upper right corner and select log out.
  10. Go to any UPrint-enabled release station and tap your UCard. See locations below.
  11. On the terminal, select a print job to release, and pick it up from the printer.

Note: The following file types are allowed: 
Microsoft Excel: xlam, xls, xlsb, xlsm, xlsx, xltm, xltx
Microsoft PowerPoint: pot, potm, potx, ppam, pps, ppsm, ppsx, ppt, pptm, pptx 
Microsoft Word: doc, docm, docx, dot, dotm, dotx, rtf, txt 
PDF: pdf 
Picture files: bmp, dib, gif, jfif, jif, jpe, jpeg, jpg, png, tif, tiff XPS xps.

Email Files to Print
  1. Open your email program and create a new email to uprint@umass.edu from your UMass Amherst address.
  2. Attach your file and click Send
  3. Wait for the confirmation email.
  4. Go to any UPrint-enabled release station and tap your UCard. See locations below.
  5. On the terminal, select a print job to release, and pick it up from the printer.

Note: The following file types are allowed: 
Microsoft Excel: xlam, xls, xlsb, xlsm, xlsx, xltm, xltx
Microsoft PowerPoint: pot, potm, potx, ppam, pps, ppsm, ppsx, ppt, pptm, pptx 
Microsoft Word: doc, docm, docx, dot, dotm, dotx, rtf, txt

UPrint Release Station Locations

Note: Print release stations in Integrative Learning Center (ILC), Furcolo, and Springfield Copy Center are grayscale-only and cannot process color print jobs.  

Color and grayscale printing and copy/scan capabilities are available at all other locations.

100 Pages Per Semester at No Cost

Each graduate and undergraduate student receives a $5 credit (equivalent to 100 pages of grayscale letter-sized printouts) per semester. 

Pay with your UCard

Students can pay for additional printing with their IT account and a UCard with a Debit Account. Add funds online or at any Value Plus Kiosk on campus
