Version 3 of the Affinity creative software suite is available at no cost to Canva users, including members of the UMass Amherst community. Use Affinity for more advanced photo, vector, and print layout creation – a compatible alternative to tools like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
To use Affinity with your UMass Amherst account, first make sure you have requested a Canva license. See umass.edu/it/canva for more information.

- In your web browser, navigate to affinity.studio/download.
- Select the download option for your device, and save the file.
- Run the downloaded file. You may be prompted for your computer’s administrator username and password. Wait for Affinity V3 to finish installing.
- From the Start menu on Windows, or Spotlight on Mac OS, open the Affinity application.
Log in to Affinity with your UMass Amherst Account
- In the Affinity application, click Log In or Sign Up. You should be taken to a web browser window.
- If you are already logged into your Canva account, you may be prompted to Continue or to select the UMass Amherst team.
If you are not already logged into your Canva account, you will be prompted to log in:
- On the Log in or sign up... dialog, click Continue with email.
- Enter your UMass Amherst netID@umass.edu and click Continue.
- If prompted to finish logging in with two-step login, follow the prompts to access your UMass Amherst account.
- You may be prompted to allow the web browser to open a link in the Affinity app. Click Allow or Open Link. You should be directed back to the Affinity application.
